Prior to registering for classes, all International Students on F1/J1 visas MUST have health insurance that meets the rules set forth by the FL Board of Governors. To facilitate this process, Academic Health Plans (AHP), the Plan Administrator for Florida International University (FIU), is providing Aetna Student Health Insurance (SHIP).
All International F1/J1 students are eligible to enroll in the FIU Aetna Student Health Insurance plan. You will receive an email to your FIU email address from Academic Health Plans with a link to activate your account with a subject line "Confirm your email.” Use the link provided in the email to set up the account. Note: Monthly payment options will not be accepted for any International Students. Insurance coverage must be paid in FULL for the semester.
To enroll in SHIP, complete the online enrollment process and pay the full premium amount online. We encourage you to review the policy coverage at fiu.mycare26.com, prior to purchasing the plan so you are aware of multiple benefits offered by this policy.
