Personal training

You must be a WRC member in order to take part in personal training sessions.

Personal training is a safe, effective and individualized approach to fitness.

Our professional training staff is committed to helping each individual achieve their personal health/fitness, post-rehabilitation, and/or sport-specific goals through the utilization and application of sound training principles.

All our trainers possess certification from a National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) accredited organization, or a National Board of Fitness Examiners (NBFE) affiliate and Emergency Response Certifications in First Aid, CPR and AED.

While each applies their own unique approach to training based upon personal philosophy, education and experience, all personal trainers adhere to the fitness guidelines set forth by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).

Athletic training

Athletic Training Services is a division of the FIU Wellness & Recreation Center at MMC focused on providing free and/or low-cost on-site and clinical athletic training services to FIU students with muscle injuries or conditions.

Our team includes health care professionals who provide preventive services, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions.

How it works

Students will be provided with an initial evaluation. An athletic trainer will then prescribe a customized treatment and rehabilitation plan.

Injuries or conditions requiring further treatment and rehabilitation may be eligible for short-term, long-term, or maintenance services.

On-site services

A certified athletic trainer will be present at all FIU intramural games and competitions to provide emergency and immediate care for any injuries or conditions resulting from sports participation.

General Information, Courses Offered and Registration Information

The WRC is once again offering Adult CPR, First Aid & AED certification classes through the American Red Cross! All classes are offered through a Blended format, meaning the first part of the certification is done online while the second part of the certification is done in-person at the WRC. The online part takes a few hours to complete, while the in-person part takes about an hour to complete. Classes are open to all FIU faculty/staff ($65) & FIU students ($48).

Registration for courses is done on under the Certifications tile. The course date listed on the website is for the in-person part. Once a participant is signed up for an in-person class date, they will receive information on how to access the online portion of the class. Registration closes 5 days before the listed day and time of the in-person class date.

Online class information is sent by the instructor through the American Red Cross once a participant has registered for an in-person class date.
