Student-Athlete Development

FIU is committed to student-athletes making the most of their time as Panthers and achieving their goals in their sport, the classroom, personally and preparing for the future. The Student-Athlete Development Office is in place to help student-athletes become well-rounded individuals and to give back to the greater community that they live in.

Throughout the year, there are informative programs that are held for student-athletes. The focus of these programs is to promote the personal, educational, and professional development of student-athletes. Below are some of the topics that FIU’s Life Skills programming covers:

  • Power of social media & branding yourself
  • Life after athletics
  • Leadership
  • Financial literacy
  • Mental health and stress management
  • Sexual health education
  • Alcohol abuse awareness

In addition to these life skills programs, the Student-Athlete Development Office coordinates community service. The community service program was created to address civic responsibility, global citizenship, and active leadership.

Senior Transition Program (STP)

Graduating senior student-athletes who participate in the program throughout their time at FIU will get up to $200 to use towards a brand new business suit.
