Learning Enhancement Team (L.E.T.)
The goal of the Learning Enhancement Team is to develop and empower student-athletes to become independent learners and facilitate academic success throughout their time at FIU. They strive to achieve a student-centered approach toward academic guidance where the distinct learning needs, interests, aspirations, and cultural backgrounds of individual students are considered. Through the implementation of research-based learning strategies and educational coaching, the L.E.T. members may assist students in the following areas:
- Study skills development
- Critical thinking
- Writing
- Time management
- Organizational skills
- Goal Setting
- SMART tutoring
- Reading comprehension
- Use of technology for learning
- Knowledge of campus resources
L.E.T. staff responsibilities
Learning specialist
- Consults on schedule, advising and tutorial recommendations
- Develops and empowers student-athletes to become independent learners and facilitates academic success
- Develops individualized goal and plan for achievement with each student at the start of each semester
- Reviews goals and accomplishments at the end of every semester with each student
- Specializes in working with skill-building and educational development
- Knowledge and skill in working with students with Learning Differences/ADHD
- Provides students with strategies for accomplishing academic work and academic goals
- Communicates with student’s Academic Coordinator to ensure proper academic support
- Makes recommendations regarding student readiness to graduate out of the Learning Enhancement Team structure
