Get ready to roar with excitement, because Parent & Family Weekend 2023 has been announced! Save the date for Friday, September 22, to Sunday, September 24. Join us for a fun-filled weekend celebrating FIU pride!

This year, we're bringing together two fantastic events in one thrilling weekend, because Parent and Family Weekend just so happens to fall during the FIU Homecoming festivities!

You do not want to miss out on all of the fun, especially cheering on our FIU Football team as they take on the Liberty Flames at our Homecoming football game on Saturday, September 23, 2023. 

And for all you Panther alumni out there who are also proud parents and family members, get ready to relive your college days and make some new memories with your loved ones! Our campus is your campus, and we can't wait to welcome you back with open arms!

Purchase a Parent & Family Weekend Package!

Parent and Family Weekend Spirit Packages are now sold out. Packages are available for pickup starting Monday, September 18, to Saturday, September 23, in the Orientation and Family Programs office located in the Graham University Center, Room 189. Pickup hours will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday - Friday, and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The package will include some FIU swag and goodies. There are separate ticketed events that require RSVP and/or additional purchasing that do not require the purchase of this package! For more information, please click the link below!

NEW: If you are an FIU parent and/or family member participating in the Parent & Family Weekend festivities, please pass by Orientation and Family Programs, located in the Graham Center Room 189 (Modesto Maidique Campus) from Thursday, September 21, to Friday, September 22, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., or on Saturday, September 23, from 9 a.m. to noon, to claim your free participant lanyard as a complimentary gift to wear around campus!

Public Opening | The Big World

  • Time: 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.
  • Location: The Wolfsonian–FIU, 1001 Washington Avenue, Miami Beach, FL, 33139
  • Admission: FREE

  • Come one, come all! Celebrate with us as we debut The Big World: Alternative Landscapes of the Modern Era, a new exhibition that upends your ideas about landscape art. From city skyline-inspired furniture and WPA mural studies to picturesque scenes for stained glass and a fantastical "Dragon Vase," the design, decorative, and fine arts of The Big World redefine the genre as more than pastoral paintings. Experience this expansive show in a night of community, culture, and Bacardi cocktails. Featuring live music by Omnisound and light bites.

The Uncaging/Trail of the Torch

  • Time: 6:45 p.m.
  • Location: Graham Center Lawns, Modesto Maidique Campus
  • Enjoy an evening of festivities on the Graham Center Lawns and witness the 19th Annual Trail of the Torch, carnival attractions and a fireworks show. It will be a night to remember!
  • This event is free and open to the FIU community!

    Join us at the Parent and Family Meet & Greet at the FIU Barnes and Noble Bookstore on Friday, September 22 for a chance to be entered into the Barnes and Noble Giveaway Basket Contest! Note: Winner will be announced at the Parent and Family Meet & Greet. Winner must be present at the bookstore to claim the prize!

    Visit the FIU Barnes & Noble Bookstore on Saturday, September 23 from 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm where all parents & family members will get a 10% off discount on an FIU emblematic clothing item and/or gift. Multiple items available for purchase!

    The Barnes and Noble Cafe on the 2nd floor of the bookstore will also be open on Saturday, September 23 from 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm.

    Will you be present at the Parent and Family Meet & Greet happening on Friday, September 22, 2023? Be sure to drop by the FIU Barnes and Noble Bookstore, where you can scan the in-store barcode for a chance to enter the giveaway and potentially win the Parent and Family Swag Basket, generously provided by the FIU Barnes and Noble Bookstore! The lucky winner will be revealed during the Parent and Family Meet & Greet at 4:30 PM in the 2nd Floor Lounge Area.

    All Parent and Family Weekend participants wearing the Parent and Family Weekend participant lanyard will receive a 10% discount on the entry price at 8th Street Campus Kitchen from Friday, September 22 to Sunday, September 24. It is a state-of-the art, all you care to eat dining experience featuring a variety of stations and cuisines! 

    Please make sure to pick up your complimentary participant lanyard in the Orientation and Family Programs Office, Graham Center Room 189.

Be a part of our Student Pantry Food Drive Challenge!

As an FIU community, we would appreciate your support in collecting a goal of 2,000 pounds of items for our students in need. If a student/family brings at least 10 pounds of items to donate, we can achieve our united goal! From September 18 to September 22, students/families can drop off donations of non-perishable food and/or toiletries to our office (Orientation and Family Programs) located in the Graham Center, Room 189 (MMC), during normal business hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) that week.
