Initial screening sessions are generally offered by telehealth.
For ongoing counseling experiences, we currently offer telehealth and face-to-face sessions.
Telehealth:
Students can use one of our private, on-site telehealth rooms (as available) or Zoom from any location using their own device (e.g., cell phone, tablet, laptop).
Telehealth from off-site should be attended in a private area and not in a moving vehicle/while driving.
Students must be located within the state of Florida during any telehealth session.
On-site sessions:
Note that an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 and other illnesses exists for on-site sessions.
As described in detail in the consent form completed prior to engaging in services, if you attend CAPS in person and are exposed to COVID-19 or are determined to have COVID-19, facts about your attendance at CAPS may be made available to campus contact tracing teams.
Sometimes clients experience emotions during session that lead to needing to take off their mask to use a tissue. Since you may not remove your mask in the session, we would need to take a break and ask you to attend to this in the restroom.
A pre-scheduled, in-person appointment may change to a telehealth appointment or be rescheduled in the event that a student indicates or demonstrates flu-like symptoms or similar risk factors in a screening tool.
