The Centers for Student Engagement, in collaboration with other campus departments as well as student organizations, organizes a variety of events during heritage and awareness months of observance throughout the year. All our programs and events are open to all FIU students and members of the FIU community.

    Tuesday Times Roundtable – GlobalHER: A Dialogue on Transnational Feminism

    Join the Women’s Center and The Office of Global Learning Initiatives in dialogue at the Tuesday Times Roundtable Discussions. "GlobalHER: A Dialogue on Transnational Feminism" will offer a reflection on International Women’s Day, its significance, and its impact for women globally, while opening a discussion for addressing the ways that women’s rights struggles continue to take shape across borders, national contexts, cultures, and communities. Although struggles for women’s rights are improving within some nations, many women across others continue to struggle for the same recognition, gender equalities, and access to economic and political power as their male counterparts. Additionally, this discussion will address the role of patriarchy and increasing conservativism in pushing the needle back for women’s rights globally.

    The Women’s Center will collaborate with the Center for Women’s and Gender Studies and FIU Alumni Association to celebrate women's historical movements, cultural progress, and moving forward. We will engage students with historical events, such as the waves of feminism, and discuss women’s contributions to our culture and society. Students will learn more about Women’s HERstory Month's origins, significance, and International Women’s Day.

Featured speakers include FlU faculty as well as a keynote address from Dr. Leila Allen, Ph.D., Associate Teaching Professor and Director, Behavioral Neuroscience Undergraduate Program. This is a chance to engage in meaningful discussions, network, and enhance your science communication skills! We hope to see you there!     The Women Who Lead conference is a full-day event hosted by the FIU Women's Center that centers women’s voices in brave spaces and creates an opportunity for intergenerational engagement. We invite the FIU and South Florida community to the event as we celebrate the accomplishments of women in different fields and provide practical tools for navigating the world as women. Students have the opportunity to connect with faculty and staff across the university and the surrounding community. We have a student ambassador program that provides students with an opportunity for professional development, networking, and reflection.

    Dear Black Girl will be an empowering event hosted by FIU National Pan-Hellenic Council that creates a safe space for Black women to engage in meaningful conversations about identity, self-love, and success. Through a panel discussion and interactive dialogue, attendees will be uplifted, inspired, and reminded of their strength, beauty, and resilience.

    SISTUHS, Inc. will be hosting an event to bring the community together by having a "war" between the genders. This will open up the space to appreciate each other more while also having fun. Games will be played to help with this appreciation. Funded by SGA. Open to all students.
