Men of Character Leadership Symposium

Building future leaders

The Men of Character Leadership Symposium (MOCLS) educates, empowers, and engages FIU students to address the needs and issues that are specific to men in higher education and strive for excellence in personal, professional, and academic pursuits. We achieve this by providing our students the opportunity to connect with and learn from their peers, faculty, staff, alumni, and professionals who have navigated through these very issues, while also highlighting their success. The leadership symposium is a unique networking opportunity for participants to learn from each other by participating in panel discussions, working groups, workshops, and networking with professional men of color who are leaders in their respective fields.

The Men of Character Leadership Symposium seeks to:

  • Address root systems that impede men from achieving high success in their educational and professional careers.
  • Provide students with a greater sense of self and helping them to contextual their identity socially, academically, historically, and politically.
  • Assist students in developing their personal leadership and professional plan of action.
  • Connect students with professional leaders, who have navigated through these very issues, while also highlighting their success.

This event will feature panel discussions, working sessions, a networking lunch, and more. Registration for the Men of Character Leadership Symposium will open in 2025.
