Types of Presentations

Subject Area Presentations:

 

  • General AI Presentations
    This presentation explores responsible and effective uses of artificial intelligence in academic settings. Students will learn strategies for using AI tools to support studying, brainstorming, organization, and learning while maintaining academic integrity and critical thinking skills. Sessions emphasize ethical AI use, evaluating AI-generated information, and developing balanced study practices that complement course learning.
  • Grammar Intensives
    This presentation focuses on strengthening grammar and writing skills commonly required in academic settings. Topics include sentence structure, verb tenses, misplaced modifiers, and other frequent writing challenges. Sessions are available for both students and staff.
  • Reading & Learning Strategies
    This presentation introduces practical learning strategies that help students strengthen comprehension, organization, critical thinking, and academic confidence. Topics may include effective notetaking, reading strategies, and approaches to active learning that can be applied across a variety of disciplines. Sessions are designed to complement course instruction and support student success.
  • STEM Strategies
    This presentation introduces effective study strategies for STEM courses, with practical examples from chemistry, physics, and mathematics. Students will learn techniques for problem-solving, note-taking, concept retention, and exam preparation that support success in rigorous university-level coursework. Sessions can be adapted to align with specific course content or offered as a general STEM academic success workshop.
  • Test Preparation Strategies
    This presentation highlights evidence-based study strategies that help students improve retention, understanding, prepare for exams, and long-term academic performance. Topics include spaced practice, interleaved practice, active recall, and effective time management, with practical examples students can apply across disciplines. Sessions are designed to support student success and can be tailored to meet the needs of specific courses.

  • Academic Coaching/ASP
    Academic Coaching and ASP presentations introduce students to the Academic Success Plan (ASP), a program designed to support students in strengthening their academic performance and developing effective learning strategies. During these sessions, students learn about the individualized support offered through ASP, including guidance with time management, organization, study skills, motivation, and accountability. Presentations also provide an overview of CfAS resources and how students can access academic support services tailored to their needs.
  • APA Formatting overview
    This presentation will introduce important aspects of using the APA Formatting and Style Guide (7th edition) to write and format research papers.
  • Career & Professional Communication
    Professional Communication presentations teach students how to communicate effectively and professionally in academic settings. Topics may include writing professional emails to professors, communicating with instructors and peers, understanding academic etiquette, and developing communication skills that support student success both inside and outside the classroom.
  • General Classroom Visits
    General Classroom Visits provide students with a broad overview of CfAS and the resources available to support their academic journey. These presentations introduce students to CfAS services, academic support options, and general strategies for student success when a specific workshop topic or skill focus is not requested.
  • GKE Preparation
    GKE Preparation presentations introduce students to the academic support services available through CfAS while providing guidance on preparing for the General Knowledge Exam. Sessions include information about tutoring options, study strategies, preparation resources, and ways students can receive ongoing academic support throughout the process.
  • Tabling Events
    CfAS is happy to participate in tabling events across campus to share information about our academic support services and resources. These events provide students with the opportunity to learn more about CfAS programs, ask questions, and connect with resources designed to support their academic success.
