Bio

A leader in the application of 21 Century Skills to active engagement in teaching and learning in online, hybrid and fully face to face environments, Dr. Gebelein has 16+ years of experience in a university environment from boots on the ground to teaching higher level administration of programmatic and pedagogic evolution. She is passionate about student success in all learning environments and applying cutting edge approaches to proactively engage, retain and encourage student progression and achievement. She has incorporated this work ethic and passion into all her projects. The focus of her recent work has been between the marriage of technology and analytics related to big data trends and patterns for student success initiatives and university-wide projects.  Student success courses, faculty, and student engagement of emerging technologies in and out the classroom, and the creation of learning opportunities are some of the major focuses  in her current role.  Presently, she is the Director of Academic Initiatives in the Division of Academic and Career Success.  Dr. Gebelein received her Bachelor’s degree in biology from Syracuse University in 1994, a Master's degree in Marine Affairs and Policy from the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences (RSMAS) in 1996 and her Ph.D. in Geography from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2001.
