Requirements

The center is available for children of FIU students, staff, faculty, alumni, and the neighboring community.

  Ages

  2 - 5 years old

• Enrollment priority

  Enrollment occurs in the following order in conjunction with enrollment priority:

  1. FIU Pell-eligible students
  2. FIU full-time students
  3. FIU staff and faculty
  4. FIU alumni
  5. Community

  Enrollment priority includes consideration of the center's budget constraints.

  Student status

  Student parents/guardians eligible for priority enrollment must meet the following requirements:

  • Undergraduate parent or guardian - Minimum 9 credit hours per semester
  • Graduate parent or guardian - Minimum 6 credit hours per semester
  • Must maintain required credit hours during the Fall, Spring and Summer semesters A & B, or C

The center serves children with special needs within the context of the center’s program and policies.

Request for reasonable accommodation

If your child requires an accommodation related to a disability, please review the information below about the accommodation process.

A person with a disability is someone who has a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities such as walking, seeing, hearing, etc. If you are uncertain whether your child needs an accommodation, please contact the Director of the Disability Resource Center (DRC). They will be able to provide you with guidance.

• How to request accommodation for your child
  1. Contact Director of DRC
  2. DRC will notify you to schedule a Welcome Appointment to discuss the request.
  3. At the Welcome Appointment Meeting, DRC will advise of necessary documentation required and next steps.
  4. Complete Parent Request for Reasonable Accommodation Form and submit it to the Director of DRC.
  5. Once all documentation has been received and reviewed, the DRC will advise you as to whether the accommodation has been approved or denied.
  6. There may be other requirements that need to be completed by the Center and you depending on the requested accommodation. The DRC will outline those requirements when the decision is communicated to you.

• Student Financial Assistance

  CCAMPIS Grant

  Students who meet the U.S. Department of Education eligibility criteria can apply to participate in the CCAMPIS Grant Child Care Subsidy Program.

  The center will be able to support student parents at FIU by subsidizing child care costs including the registration fee, supply fee, and monthly tuition.

  Non-refundable / non-transferable; due at time of enrollment. All fees subject to change.
