Safe Zone Training

Safe Zone trainings are opportunities for Faculty and Staff to earn professional development credit for taking the initiative to learn about LGBTQIA+ identities, genders, and orientations, and examine prejudice, assumptions, and privilege.

LGBTQIA+ people sometimes question whether they will feel safe, welcomed, or supported in new environments. Faculty and staff who get trained in the Safe Zone curriculum receive Safe Zone stickers and signature icons which, when displayed, communicate to others a commitment to making and creating inclusive environments for LGBTQIA+ people.

The University Safe Zone program follows a tailored curriculum adapted from The Safe Zone Project. This curriculum is updated bi-annually to ensure the curriculum stays relevant to current scholarly knowledge and trends occurring within the community.
