Bio
Joanna Sanabria serves as the Director of Student Success and Academic Operations within the Office of Student Success Operations and Strategy. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Princeton University and a Master’s degree in Structural Engineering from Stanford University. After working for several years as a structural engineer, she decided to make a career change into higher education. She joined FIU in 2013 as an academic advisor for the College of Engineering and Computing. She started teaching as an adjunct instructor for the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering in 2014 and continues to teach courses today.
Joanna joined the Office of Student Success Operations and Strategy in 2018. She currently leads the Data Insights and Strategy Team and the Student Progression and Outreach Team. In this role, she collaborates with partners and leadership across the university to develop and implement strategic, data-driven initiatives in support of the university’s student success goals.
