Join SPC

The Student Programming Council hosts over 70 events for FIU students and the community throughout the academic year. SPC continues to grow in numbers and will continue to provide cultural, educational, recreational, and social programs aimed at building unity and pride among all students.

General membership

SPC General Members assist in program management and implementation of events. The General Members assist in sharing ideas for programs, as well as helping each event run smoothly by working crowd control and answering student questions, among other fun and exciting things.

Officer positions

  • President

    The SPC president is responsible for the overall leadership of the Student Programming Council, and serves as the spokesperson for SPC throughout the FIU community. This person serves as the primary contact and liaison for professional associations and coordinates the council’s attendance at conferences and conventions. When needed, the SPC president will serve as SPC’s representative on various university-wide committees, including Week of Welcome.

  • Vice President of Administration

    The VP of Administration oversees​ ​the​ ​daily​ ​operations​ ​of​ ​the​ ​SPC​ ​office​ ​including​ ​key​ ​access, maintenance,​ ​and​ ​computer​ ​issues. Maintains​ ​official​ ​SPC​ ​documents​ ​such​ ​as​ ​Policies​ ​and​ ​Procedures,​ ​member and​ ​officer​ ​roster, and maintains​ ​all​ ​attendance​ ​records​ ​for​ ​SPC​ ​meetings,​ ​events,​ ​and​ ​progress​ ​reports. The VP will also coordinate​ ​member​ ​incentive​ ​programs and work​ ​with​ ​President​ ​to​ ​develop​ ​a​ ​training​ ​and​ ​professional​ ​development​ ​calendar.

  • Vice President of Outreach

    The VP of outreach coordinates all outreach efforts for the council and its programs. This person oversees the development of the outreach calendar to ensure that publicity and promotions are done in a time efficient manner. They also oversee SPC’s involvement in other campus-wide programs, such as Homecoming, Dance Marathon, Relay for Life and many more.

  • Vice President of Programming

    The vice president of programming is responsible for the overall programming for SPC and manages the programming calendar. This person provides leadership in program development, selection, preparation, execution, and evaluation of events. The VP of programming serves as the primary contact and liaison for artists, agents, production companies, and other businesses with whom SPC works on an annual basis.

  • Vice President of Finance

    The VP of finance will advise​ ​Executive​ ​Officers​ ​and​ ​Directors​ ​in​ ​expenditure​ ​decisions, and monitor​ ​the​ ​overall​ ​finances​ ​of​ ​the​ ​Council,​ ​and​ ​maintains​ ​all​ ​financial​ ​records. The VP will serves​ ​as​ ​the​ ​main​ ​contact​ ​with​ ​the​ ​Activities​ ​and​ ​Service​ ​(A&S)​ ​Business​ ​Office and work​ ​with​ ​the​ ​Advisor​ ​and​ ​other​ ​Executive​ ​Officers​ ​on​ ​an​ ​annual​ ​basis​ ​to prepare​ ​the​ ​Budget​ ​Request for​ ​SGA.

  • Finance Coordinator

    The Finance Coordinator will ensure that all allocations and expenditures follow the procedures outlined by the council, work with VP on monitoring the overall finances of the council and maintains all financial records.

  • Directors

    There are 6 Directors in SPC, each director plans and facilitates events in their area. The areas are Pop Up’s, Special Events, Movies, Academic, and engineering. As Director’s they work with a committee to plan the events each semester. Director’s complete Program Approval Request forms for assigned programs, and ensures that all expenditures are in accordance with designated budgets, as well as arrange for any purchases that need to be made for assigned programs, and complete necessary financial paperwork. Each Director will have their own committee.

  • Marketing Coordinator

    The marketing coordinator works with the Campus Life publications department to choose, design and order all SPC giveaways and serves as a liaison between SPC and Campus Life publications staff. In order to market events, this person will establish and maintain working relationships with various on-campus organizations such as the Beacon and WRGP. This person will also develop a marketing plan for SPC events to ensure that advertisements are done in an effective and timely manner, as well as monitor and maintain the SPC website by providing updates to Campus Life publications staff.

  • Committee Members

    Committee members work directly with a Director or with a Marketing Coordinator. They will help plan, and organize the events, as well as help execute the events day of.

  • General Members

    General members attend meetings, and help run the events and programs that SPC puts on.
