    One of the oldest Chinese medical traditions used for treatment of most types of pain including joint and muscle pain, headaches, lower back pain, menstrual cramps, fibromyalgia and carpal tunnel syndrome. Acupuncture is also useful for weight loss, addiction, and depression/anxiety.

    • Auricular Acupuncture: Free for FIU students
      • A needle-free service that involves pressure points in the ear.
    • Acutonics: Free for FIU students
      • Uses vibrational tuning forks at different frequencies to move energy throughout the body.
    • Traditional Acupuncture: FIU Students; Charges apply
      • A needle technique that is used to stimulate different areas of the body.
  • Health Coaching Consultations

    Learn how to manage your health and make it a priority by coming to see an educator for a free, one-on-one consultation on the following topics:

    • Stress Management
      • A comprehensive approach to managing stress, including techniques to reduce anxiety, improve coping mechanisms, and enhance overall well-being.
    • Time Management
      • A consultation offering strategies to optimize time allocation, prioritize tasks effectively, and increase productivity.
    • Sleep Health
      • Consultations focus on improving sleep quality and quantity to enhance physical and mental health.
    • Sexual Health
      • Education and coaching on various aspects of sexual health, including safe sex practices, reproductive health, and sexually transmitted infections.
    • Nicotine/Tobacco Cessation
      • A personalized session offering tools and strategies to quit or reduce nicotine or tobacco use.
    • Alcohol 101
      • An educational consultation providing insights into alcohol consumption, its effects on the body, and tips for making informed, responsible choices.
    • Substance Misuse
      • A supportive consultation addressing concerns regarding substance use, its risks, and strategies for safer behaviors or reducing harm.
  • Massage Therapy

    Massage not only helps with relaxation by working the soft tissues of the body, but it can improve maintaining physical and mental wellness.

    • 10-Minute Chair Massage: Free for FIU Students
      • A mix of a massage gun and therapeutic massage focused on shoulders and upper back.
    • 25-Minute Table Massage: FIU Students; Charges apply
      • Full body massage on shoulders, back, and legs.

  • Nutrition
    • Nutrition 101 Coaching- (Nutrition Educator)
      • Consultations focus on basic healthy eating education which include food groups, macro nutrients, hydration, hunger/fullness, general portions, minor weight management, vitamin/mineral questions, basic nutrition skills, meal /snack planning.
    • Dietitian Consultations (Registered Dietitian)
      • Consultations for disease management, sports nutrition, issues with weight management, meal planning, prioritizing health, and improving your relationship with food.
      • These appointments are currently only being offered virtually.

    After booking your appointment, log into your Student Health portal by using your FIU username and password. You must complete the Dietitian Initial and Food Log forms PRIOR to your appointment.

  • STI/HIV Testing

    Through a partnership with, Care Resource, HLP offers free STI and HIV testing to the FIU community.  Testing occurs every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10AM – 4PM (30 min appointments) 

    • To get tested, you must provide a valid photo ID(passport or license). FIU Panther ID cards WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
    • This testing is primarily for preventive screening, for individuals NOT experiencing any symptoms.
    • Appointments are SAME DAY ONLY and cannot be scheduled for future dates.
    • Testing is open to students, faculty, and staff.
    • Appointments can be scheduled in-person or by calling our office at 305-348-4020 (same day only).

    If you are a student actively experiencing STI symptoms, please contact the FIU Student Health Clinics for more extensive STI testing (note: fees will apply for testing conducted at the clinics).

    Tests offered by Care Resource: Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Hepatitis C, and HIV


    How Tests are Collected:

    1. HIV- Oral Swab 
    2. HIV and Hepatitis C- Finger stick
    3. Chlamydia and Gonorrhea
      1. Urine Sample (self-collected in bathroom) and/or Oral Swab.
      2. Anal sample (self-collected in bathroom)- If client engages in anal sex and would like to do this test.

    STI Results:

    Depending on the test conducted, the results may take up to 2 weeks.  Therefore, students who are symptomatic are recommended to receive testing through the Student Health Clinic for a nominal fee or visit another healthcare provider. 

    • HIV and Hepatitis C results provided during the appointment.
    • Chlamydia and Gonorrheawill be provided within two weeks (students will be able to access their results on Quest Diagnostics website or through their app). They will also receive an encrypted email from Barracuda when their results are ready (check spam folders for the email). Quest Website
