Florida International University will commemorate National TRIO Day on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at the Modesto A. Maidique Campus, celebrating the ongoing impact of federally funded TRIO programs and their role in expanding educational opportunities and student success.

Observed annually on February 28, National TRIO Day was established by congressional resolution to recognize federal outreach and academic support initiatives that strengthen pathways to higher education. The observance highlights a long-standing national commitment to advancing academic achievement, persistence, and degree attainment.

At FIU, TRIO programs are part of Student Access and Success and support nearly 1,200 students each year. Through individualized academic coaching, mentoring, academic enrichment, financial literacy workshops, and graduate school preparation, these programs help learners maximize their potential and navigate every stage of the collegiate journey.

The event will feature a welcome address, a student panel on the TRIO experience, interactive workshops, and a campus-wide photo scavenger hunt designed to foster connection and Panther pride. The day will conclude with closing remarks.

National TRIO Day invites the FIU community to celebrate the lasting impact of TRIO programs, honoring decades of achievement and reaffirming the university’s commitment to empowering students and advancing academic excellence.
