Data Insights and Strategy Team
The Data Insights and Strategy Team helps to communicate and achieve the University’s student success goals. They work with the academic units to support college-specific strategies and meet regularly with cross-unit workgroups to identify and remove institutional barriers to student success (process improvement, policy recommendations, etc.). The team integrates and analyzes data from multiple platforms to identify meaningful, real-time insights. They provide actionable, just-in-time data to support decision-making and college-level interventions. Areas of focus include academic operations and course offerings, as well as other areas related to student retention and progression to graduation. They evaluate the impact of student success initiatives university-wide and implement best practices to support the advancement of student success at FIU.
Student Progression/Outreach Team
The Student Progression/Outreach Team uses data analytics to identify targeted populations of students experiencing barriers to retention, progression, or graduation. They reach out directly to those students, and work in collaboration with campus partners to help resolve issues related to re-enrollment, registration holds, payment of tuition and fees, incomplete grades, graduation eligibility, among others. They also work with the academic units to identify and intervene when students are struggling in their courses, or becoming off-track in their major. Students missing critical course milestones for their program are invited to meet with a Progression Specialist to discuss their options and create a plan to get back on-track for graduation.
