We've streamlined the DRC laptop loan program to match the rest of the university, making sure devices have the latest software. If you need a laptop as part of your accommodation, you can meet with a DRC access consultant to receive a DRC Semester Laptop Rental Card.
Once you are assigned the accommodation and provided with the rental card, you may contact the FIU library to pick up your laptop. Remember that all laptops must be returned and exchanged at the end of each semester.
Laptops are limited and loaned out on a first-come, first-served basis.

Laptop Loaner Guidelines
- Laptops may be checked out for one semester at a time.
- Never leave the laptop unattended.
- Save your work to a USB drive. Files saved on the laptop will be automatically erased when it is turned off.
- For security, Bluetooth and all installations (except Zoom) are disabled.
- We are not responsible for any files stored on the laptop or its connected devices.
- We are not responsible for any viruses that may be passed to or from your device or accounts.
- All Dell laptops come with internet access, Microsoft Office Professional, McAfee Antivirus and Acrobat Reader.
- You may not install personal software on the laptop.
Violating these guidelines may result in loss of laptop privileges or disciplinary action.
Student Responsibility
You are financially responsible for the full replacement cost of any laptop or equipment checked out to you if it is lost, damaged or stolen.
A hold will be placed on your FIU student account until the balance is paid or the equipment is returned. This hold will prevent you from registering, receiving grades or accessing transcripts. In some cases, the matter may be referred to Student Affairs for disciplinary action.
