Community Standards

Fraternity and Sorority Life members excel in the classroom by achieving honors, engaging with faculty as research and teaching assistants, participating in hands-on experiences through internships, and traveling abroad!

Our organizations set high expectations of academic achievement and responsibility. They hold their members accountable to national and local chapter expectations of academic excellence through tutoring programs, study buddy systems, and chapter study hours. Additionally, many chapters reward members through financial incentives to those achieving the highest grades in the chapter each semester!

Order of Omega

One of the highest honors a member of Fraternity and Sorority Life can receive is being recognized as a member of Order of Omega (OOO). Order of Omega recognizes the top 3% in the Greek community who have attained a high standard of leadership in interfraternity activities, and who inspire others to strive for similar outstanding achievements. Applicants must be Juniors and Seniors (Honorary members excluded) in order to be considered for membership.

If you’re interested in joining or collaborating, please contact the Executive Board by emailing ooo@fiu.edu.

Sober Monitor Training

Sober monitors have the important responsibility of monitoring chapter social events to provide a safe environment for everyone in attendance. They are trained by our office in how to monitor social events and ensure that all policies and procedures are followed. As part of our Event Planning Form & Approval Process, we require members to be certified sober monitors in order to serve in that capacity at their respective chapters’ social functions. Sober Monitor Training occurs twice a semester and all chapter members who have not completed sober monitor training should attend.
