The 2021 Parent & Family week of events will offer a variety of virtual, live and self-guided, along with in-person experiences.

FIU Parent Fund

As part of this year’s FIU Parent & Family Week, your FIU Family Council is raising funds to support student scholarships. Please consider making a donation to help our FIU students in need through the FIU Parents Fund.

Activities on your own

  • Customized your FIU Activities Guide and email your completed guide to family@fiu.edu for a prize!
  • Social Media Challenge. Post pictures in your FIU gear by October 23, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. EST using the hashtag #fiuproudfamily.  Winners will be randomly selected.
  • Visit the FIU Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum for free on the MMC Campus.

    Panthermonium / open to the FIU Community
    Gates open at 6 p.m. • MMC – SASC Parking Lot

    Come out to Panthermonium, FIU’s homecoming concert. This year our concert will be featuring T-Pain and Swae Lee! Tickets are also available for purchase by FIU alumni, faculty, staff and members of the public for $20 by clicking here.

    Panther's Got Talent / open to the FIU Community
    Gates open at 5 p.m. • MMC – SASC Parking Lot

    Come see the panthers on stage at Panthers Got Talent, an FIU Homecoming tradition in which students, faculty, and staff are able to perform live. Join us for a night of entertainment with singing, dancing, and so many more acts to see who has what it takes to take home the Gold.

    Welcome to Parent and Family Week / Parent & Family
    7 – 8:30 p.m. • Virtual Event

    Grab your favorite snack and beverage to compete with other Proud Panther Families in a virtual game of Are you Smarter than Roary the Panther! FIU staff will also share more information about the week of events and answer any questions you may have. You don’t want to miss this opportunity to win a free FIU gift!

    Frost Art Museum – Common Reading Exhibit

    Hosted by: Academic and Career Success, Common Reading

    Time: (Monday - Friday – 10am-5pm, Sunday – 12-5pm)

    Location: This event is free and open to the public. No need to register, just visit the Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum.

    Taste at the Bay / Open to the FIU Community
    All Day • Various Locations

    Taste of the Bay is a chance to try out an array of dishes from local food vendors around our Biscayne Bay Campus. Stop by our featured restaurants for a taste all that the bay has to offer.

    Curator Tours / Open to the FIU Community
    Time: 12 – 1 pm • The Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum

    Join Chief Curator, Amy Galpin on a tour of our current exhibition Leonardo Drew: Cycles, From the Collection of Jordan D. Schnitzer and His Family Foundation. Leonardo Drew’s prints, at once powerfully large yet fragile, test the versatility of the medium, transforming cotton paper pulp and pigment into what suggests densely populated cities, a forest, or an urban wasteland.

    Registration: This event is free and open to the public. No need to register, just drop in at the Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum lobby.

    10 a.m. – 11 a.m. • Virtual Event

    The Parent & Family Council invite you to join us at our Morning Coffee Break on on Zoom! Take some time to chat, share and get to know other FIU parents and family members. This event is free, but RSVP is required to attend. To RSVP, click here.

    Real Talk – Women Leaders in Hospitality
    Hosted by: Chaplin School of Hospitality and Tourism Management and Castell@College
    Time: 6:30 – 7:30 pm

    Join Castell@College for an interactive discussion with a panel of hospitality executives. Panelists will talk career tracks, life choices and proven formulas for success

    Uncaging / Students, Faculty & Staff, Alumni, Retirees
    5 p.m. • MMC – GC Lawns/GC Fountain/DM Pit/PC Steps

    The Uncaging is the ultimate spirit event. Come connect and have fun with your family, friends, and colleagues at this Carnival/Festival-like event. We will also be crowning our Faculty & Staff Royalty at this event.

    Trail of the Torch / Students, Faculty & Staff, Alumni, Retirees
    6:30 p.m. • Beginning at the GC Lawns

    The 17th Annual Trail of the Torch will be hosted at this year’s Uncaging Event. The FIU Student Ambassadors, the keepers of this tradition, will be ready to greet our alumni and community. The Trail will begin at the stage where we will announce our official 2021 Torchbearers. During the largest on-campus tradition, our Torchbearers will carry and pass the torch, until we reach and ignite the Torch of Knowledge, Service & Opportunity in front of the Primera Casa steps, representing the importance of alumni giving back to their alma mater.

    2 pm • Student Academic Success Center (SASC)- 1st floor, next to auditorium

    This guided walking tour of our campuses features views of classrooms, the library, dining facilities and more. Face coverings are strongly encouraged for the duration of your visit as well as social distancing.

    Virtual Caricature / Parent & Family
    6 p.m. – 8 p.m. • Virtual Event

    Have your family turned into a caricature! A virtual caricature artist will be available via Zoom from 6-8 p.m. EST, for your family to sit for the artist. During the event, you’ll digitally raise your hand when you’re ready to have your caricature drawn and moved into a breakout room.

    FIU Men’s Soccer vs Old Dominion University (ODU)
    Time: 6:45 pm • FIU Soccer Stadium

    Ranked 13th in the nation, our Men’s Soccer team will take on ODU! Cheer our Panthers on to victory in person or from the comfort of your own home!

    CASE is hooked on Homecoming! / Students, Faculty & Staff, Alumni, Retirees

    The FIU CASE Homecoming Tailgate is back! We are excited to celebrate Homecoming 2021 and invite CASE faculty, students, staff and alumni to join us for a Panther Spirit- filled day of fun.     The Roar Report / Students, Faculty & Staff, Alumni, Retirees
    1 p.m. • Webcast via HC.FIU.EDU

    The Roar Report is a university-wide talk show that will include multiple events that will keep students, faculty, alumni, administration, and community members engaged while raising school spirit and creating a sense of unity. Tune in to FIU’s twist on Good Morning America to see what Roary and his fellow panthers have been up to.

    Proud Parent and Family Mixer / Parent & Family

    Join us for one of FIU's greatest traditions, The Proud Parent and Family Mixer. This is a great opportunity for parents and family members to interact with members of the FIU community, show your Panther Pride, and celebrate your student!

    Prior to kick-off, join the FIU Alumni Association at the Roar Lounge tailgate for food, drinks and A/C from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Parkview Hall. Bring your family and friends – everyone is welcome! For just $25 (children ages 12 and under are free), enjoy a meal, soda, entertainment and Panther spirit swag. A cash bar will also be available.
