  • What are the benefits of being Greek?

Being a member of FIU Greek Life provides personal and professional development, as well as a social network that extends past your undergraduate years.

Philanthropy, service, academics, leadership and networking are all benefits of being a member of fun and dynamic organizations. Greek Life also provides opportunities to connect with other students from FIU and interact with other members from across the country.

  • How do you join a Fraternity or Sorority at FIU?

Each council and individual organization has different policies and procedures for recruitment or membership intake.

  • How do I know what Fraternity or Sorority is right for me?

FIU Greek Life has a diverse group of students and organizations. In choosing what organization best fits your values and goals, you should start by knowing your own.

Make a list of the benefits you’re looking for in an organization. Use the local chapter as well as the national/international websites as a guide. Make sure to review the open motto or sayings, the philanthropy or service involvement, the leadership development opportunities and the academic requirements and assistance.

  • Is there a cost associated with joining a Fraternity or Sorority?

Each fraternity or sorority has a cost associated with membership. While each organization's cost differs, dues typically include insurance, national/international dues, normal operating expenses and programming.

  • Do you allow hazing at FIU?

FIU has a zero-tolerance hazing policy. Hazing is not condoned or allowed. For more information about the Chad Meredith Act, visit the Student Conduct and Academic Integrity website.

  • What should I be doing to prepare myself before joining?

Make sure that you are enrolled full-time in classes and maintain an above-average GPA, get involved in service and leadership opportunities around campus and in your community, and work on creating or updating your resume.

  • What is Recruitment?

Recruitment offers an opportunity to meet chapter members and peers while learning what each chapter has to offer. Throughout the process, council ambassadors/recruitment guides of Interfraternity and Panhellenic Councils will answer all questions that may arise while participating in recruitment. Participating in the recruitment process does not require a person to join a chapter but does provide them an opportunity to explore and learn about the campus and FIU Greek Life.
