Career Partners

Florida International University’s (FIU) Career and Talent Development office launched the Career Partners training in December 2019.

Career Partners is a 2-hour training to equip FIU faculty and staff with the necessary tools to have meaningful conversations with students about their career development and planning.

We understand that career-related conversations happen throughout our university; not just in our office. Career Partners is an essential piece to building a career readiness culture and preparing our students for the world of work. Attendees are introduced to career resources and services, development theories, and FIU Handshake – our central internship and job platform.

Attendees will learn when and how to refer both students and employers to Career and Talent Development and also gain an understanding of the NACE Principles that guide internships and on-campus employer recruitment. Dates and times for future trainings will be added to the professional development website. As a result of attending the 2-hour training, participants are provided a certificate and two hours of professional development credits. Since its inception, over 50 FIU faculty and staff have completed the training and are helping to create a career readiness culture.
